Jelly Beans
Jelly Beans are our pre-School children, and this is the last room they attend before moving onto school. Throughout the children's time in this room we aim to promote a stimulating environment with the ability to allow children to explore at their own pace, using natural materials and resources. Our Jelly Beans room is open plan and has direct access to our garden for the children to explore throughout all seasons and weather.
We often look at best practice in a room created by the Local Authority to give us ideas to see what excellent practice looks like elsewhere. Our curriculum is based on our own childcare best practices and is underpinned by the Department for Education’s framework for children under five, The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
We ensure to promote activities in the room that are best designed to encourage independence, confidence and language - creating a careful balance between structured and free activities for all children of all needs.
At this age children deepen their understanding by playing, talking, observing, planning, questioning, experimenting, testing, repeating, reflecting and responding to adults and to each other.
The rooms are divided into specific areas of learning and play, and many of the activities will be geared towards the children’s on-going needs once they go onto school, in particular the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
